"We stopped by to visit someone and decided to eat. I moved here from Germany in 2003 and let me tell you in 23 yrs I have not had more of authentic German food here ever! The jager schnitzel is delicious, the spatzle are also very good. My husband had the cordon bleu which was almost really good!. I was amazed and baffled at the same time... def recommend! Allie the waitress is here is sweet and will take great care of you! Tip her well!"

"I've seen the bad reviews and they must be coming from night shift, I'm a frequent customer in the mornings/afternoons and have never experienced anything these reviews are talking about. The waitresses are sweet, the food is hot, it arrives quickly, and no one has ever ignored me no matter if I was by myself or with other people. I will continue coming here and I hope those reviews don't stop other people from trying the place out because it really is worth it."

"4/2/25 Update This was by far the best visit we have and. Food was excellent and they restaurant was more than adequately staffed! The servers were all pretty new but were much better than previous visits. Good job Backstreet Cafe! Service here is always a gamble but the food is always on point!!!! Had a great meal here on their German day!!! I had cordon blue, German potato salad and spatzel. Good service sat outside enjoyed the porch dining!!!"

"Food was great! Came out hot, fast and fresh. I had the snitzel and that alone took up the whole plate. Our server seemed new. The other servers did team service, jumped in and ensured we had everything we needed and saved the night. Next time I'm trying dessert. They look amazing but was too full. Great job backstreet cafe!"

"A nice place for a long conversation. Overall this cafe is just a nice slice of americana. The food is good, simply prepared and plated. Their breakfast plates are great. Overall, the restaurant's biggest needs for improvement are ingredient quality and presentation. With just a bit more care, the lunch menu could stand out. As it was, food was bland and it seemed hastily prepared. The place has made obvious investments in decorating, and the food needs to be improved to match. Service was a bit slow for a Tuesday lunch. We waited about 35 minutes for a cheese steak sandwich and a taco salad. The meals didn't come out together for our party of two. The seasoned fries are , but I recognize them as one of the standard Sodexo types. The taco salad looks good but lacks depth. The ground beef was overdone and bland, and the refried beans in the salad is probably a miss. To improve, use fresh avocado instead of green squeeze sauce and use more lettuce and tomatoes. Black beans and corn with some cilantro are way cooler than the canned-type brown refried beans Some diced green onion would liven it up also. The cheese steak sandwich was about the "okayest" sandwich ever. It had good ingredients. If it was my menu, I might have made it a little special by toasting the cheese into the bun on the grill. Also got the spice cake. Good but like the rest of the menu, it didn't stand out much. A drizzle of caramel or some walnuts to garnish before serving would make it more memorable."
